ΣΚΔ seeks to promote education,
literacy and charity. Benefits of membership include
opportunities for community service, eligibility to attend
national literary conferences, eligibility to submit writings to
the national literary journal, recognition during graduation,
resume enhancement, lifetime membership, and a fun peer group to
hang out with during on– and off-campus activities. Current
chapter dues are $45. The chapter pays national dues for
members. To join, fill out a
membership application and give it to one of the faculty
sponsors: Rayshell
Clapper and Yasminda
Choate. Information about chapter activities as well as
forms are available in the Scott Building by ΣΚΔ/YA's
bulletin board.
Seminole State College’s ΣΚΔ
chapter is Upsilon Alpha (ΣΚΔ/YA).
It annually publishes The Muse literary and art anthology
under the direction of faculty sponsors. The purpose of the
anthology is to not only encourage expression in the literary
and fine arts, but to also encourage students, faculty, and
staff to publish their works.
ΣΚΔ/YA
reserves the right to edit submitted material for spelling and
style. The chapter considers all submitted material, but
submission does not ensure publication. We do not accept
anonymous material. All views expressed are those of the author
and do not necessarily represent the views of Seminole State
College or ΣΚΔ/YA.
The Muse is distributed on the SSC campus and the
surrounding area. |
